Frequently Asked Questions
How does the tournament work?
It’s a 3x3 tournament playing on half court. Each game is 12 minutes, and each team of 3 (or 4 with an optional sub) plays a minimum of 3 games, first in group play and then semis and finals (rules here). The morning brackets are friendly, the afternoon brackets are competitive, and all money raised from the tournament goes to fund the scholarship fund.
How good do you have to be to play?
The morning bracket is for all ages, all abilities, and has its own finals at noon. If you can throw a ball at a basket you’ll do fine. WE ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO PLAY! There’s really nothing like it.
How competitive is the afternoon bracket?
The entire tournament is a family-friendly celebration of Dante and his love for playing with his friends. The afternoon teams just play harder!
How do I register a team?
You do not need to know all your players when you register a team. There are big advantages to early registration, so you can register as captain with up to 3 players-to-be-named-later and let us know when your team is finalized. You’ll need basic info for the players, including shirt size and how you want your shirts personalized.
Do you have to play to attend?
Not at all. Watching the games is just about as much fun as playing in them, and there’s a DJ, raffles, kids activities, and food trucks for you to enjoy. But bring chairs!
Can I help out with the tournament?
ABSOLUTELY! We rely on official referees willing to donate their time. We need scorekeepers, timekeepers, registrars and cashiers, in addition to help setting and cleaning up. We need raffle items from local businesses and artisans. We rely on sponsors to pay expenses like insurance and trophies. Any way you know how to contribute will help make the day a success, just get in touch 🌟
